Sorry I missed the meeting, I would argue that the issue is that the CPI has been gerrymandered into a smaller number than the real “CPI”. It is in the interest of our government to restrain entitlements. Is this too simple an analysis. My spreadsheet says that just under 5% compounded over 50 years dectuples costs.
